Container traffic through CTSP increased by 2,7% to 398,000 TEU in 12 months of 2015
In 2015 JSC “Container terminal Saint-Petersburg” (CTSP) handled 398 k TEU, 2,7% more than in 2014. It is the best result ever achieved by CTSP.
Throughput of containers was 23,5 k TEU in January and grew to 48,6 k TEU in December 2015 – the highest ever monthly volume.
These achievements are the result of the combined effort of operations, commercial and auxiliary departments and the high service level of the terminal.
In 2015 the terminal reported the second highest container throughput in Russia. CTSP is one of the few container terminals in the country that could increase container traffic against the previous year.
In 2015 the Company not only maintained the throughput level achieved during the market growth in 2013, but continued increasing the market share against other container operators in the Northwest of Russia (from 15,6% to 22,1%).
The volume of import in 2015 remained the same as in 2014 (186,9k TEU). Overall volume of export increased by 5,5% YoY to 211,1k TEU. Laden export increased by 94,6% to 70 k TEU.
At the same time, in 2015 the structure of export cargo flow significantly changed – the share of laden containers increased from 19% to 36%, while the share of empty containers decreased from 32% to 17%. The shares of export and import in the cargo flow are 53,1%, and 46,9% respectively.
Improvement and expansion of the rail handling facility allowed to increase the share of cargo shipped by rail from 18% to 26,3% and reduce traffic density on the urban roads.
In 2015 the terminal handled 373 vessels with the average volume 1059 TEU per call.
