CTSP reports throughput of 387,6k TEU in 2014
In 2014 JSC “Container terminal Saint-Petersburg” handled 387,6k TEU. The throughput decreased by 2,2% compared to 2013 as a result of the general fall of the cargo flows caused by unfavorable economic situation in Russia. Nevertheless, thanks to the efforts to create attractive environment for clients and partners and the cooperation launched with the leading shipping lines the terminal’s rate of fall is 3.2% less than the overall throughput decrease in the Northwest of Russia.
In addition to containerized cargo in 2014 the Terminal handled over 12,3 thousand import automobiles delivered by sea. Handling of automobiles is carried out on the specially equipped berth.
In 2014 in furtherance of the service enhancement policy CTSP started cooperation with three shipping lines: Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Team Lines and Х-Press FEEDERS. At the same time the Terminal further develops relationships with the main client MSC towards creation of attractive environment for foreign traders.
Active interaction with the clients and the Oktyabrskaya Railway allowed increasing the share of rail shipments from 15% to 18%, first of all due to reorientation of the motor carriage. These activities aimed to reduce the load on the road infrastructure are supposed to let more flexibly manage the cargo flows between the terminal and various modes of transport.
The volume of export goods handled by CTSP in 2014 grew by 5%, to 200,1k TEU. The share of laden export containers reached 37,5%, 12,9% more than in 2013. The shares of export and import in the overall throughput were 52% and 48% respectively.
In total the terminal handled 210 vessel calls with the average shipload of 1,8 thousand TEU exceeding the result of the previous year by 35%.
