CTSP’s throughput in the first half of 2015
In the first half of 2015 JSC “Container terminal Saint-Petersburg” (CTSP) handled 173.1k TEU (- 11.4% year-on-year). The drop is the result of the general trend in the Russian stevedoring market driven by adverse economic situation. Particularly, the throughput of containers in the Greater port of Saint-Petersburg and the Ust-Luga Port in January-June 2015 declined by 28.2% compared to the first half of 2014.
In the first 6 months of the current year CTSP’s market share increased to 19.1% among container terminals of Saint-Petersburg and Ust-Luga. In June 2015 the terminal had the second largest throughput among all Russian terminals.
The shares of import and export in the overall throughput were 49% and 51% respectively.
The total export at CTSP declined by 9.1% to 88.2k TEU, with the share of laden containers increased to 59.5 k TEU (from 35% to 67.5%) and the empty throughput decreased to 32.5%, (28.7k TEU).
Import throughput declined by 13.6% year-on-year to 84.9k TEU, of which 24.3k TEU were reefer containers.
During 6 months of 2015 the terminal handled 147 vessels with the average shipload of 1.2k TEU.
