CONTAINER THROUGHPUT OF CTSP IN 2017 GREW BY 15% TO 643,700 TEUS
In January-December 2017, Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg CJSC handled 643,700 TEUs, which is 15.4% more than in 2016. That is a record high result throughout the history of CTSP.
In 2017, CTSP retained its leading position among container terminals of Russia. The company’s market share in Saint-Petersburg and Ust-Luga was as high as 32%, in the Baltic Basin - 29%, in Russia - 14%.
In 2017, imports via the terminal accounted for 45% of its total container throughput, or 288,800 TEUs including 68,200 TEUs of containers with refrigerated cargo. Exports accounting for 55% of shipments totaled 354,900 TEU.
High results should be attributed to the development of the terminal infrastructure, expansion of the fleet of production equipment, automation of the technological process. Three RTG cranes and 16 units of handling equipment were put into operation in 2017.
Amid active cooperation with Oktyabrskaya Railway, container shipments by railway transport accounted for 26.7% of the terminal’s total cargo transportation.
In 2017, CTSP continued cooperation with the largest container lines operating at Big Port St. Petersburg: MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, COSCO, OOCL, FESCO, Yang Ming, Unifeeder, Team Lines, etc.
In the reporting period, the number of calls totaled 595 with average shipload of 1,087 TEUs.
